Go Blue! Ticket Giveaway

April 17, 2008 by Paul Hooper

*THIS CONTEST HAS ENDED*
I know what you are thinking, “What? Another Giveaway?” After hours of trial and error, various experiments, field research and rigorous testing, I can finally confirm once and for all that there can never actually be too much of a good thing. With that settled, we thought it would be great to run another giveaway on the blog. The show of choice this time around is the highly anticipated Blue Man Group : How to be a Megastar Tour 2.1 which is sure to be one of the most exciting and elaborate shows this year. One random entrant will win a pair of tickets to the show. To enter in the giveaway, we are asking you to comment with the bands/groups/shows that you would like to see come to Rupp Arena. We definitely get a fair share of ‘megastars’ on the arena floor, like the Blue Man Group, but there are so many events out there that we sometimes miss ones that you would love to see.

Follow these easy steps to enter:

  • Leave a comment on this post.
  • Include in the comment your top event (or more than one if you would like) that you would like to see come to Rupp Arena. These could be musical acts, sports events, or any other type of event.
  • Be sure to leave the comment under the email address you want us to contact you at if you win

It is quick, painless, and lets us know what you would like to see come to Rupp Arena so we can try to book them. We will once again run all the comments through our super-awesome-state of the art-crazy-monkey operated-random-post comment-picker-machine to select a winner. Since it is random, as long as you make sure that you suggest at least 1 event you would like to see, then you have just as good of a chance as anyone else who enters. Please enter only once as all duplicate entries will be removed. Need some encouragement? I have just the right kind of thing…

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWTCVEXOCQg]

The contest will be running starting today, April 17th until Wednesday, April 23rd at 5pm EST. The winner will be announced the following day, Thursday, April 24. The contest will run for about a week, and then we will announce the winner the day afterward which will still allow you plenty of time to make plans for the show that following Sunday, April 27th. With our usual recap of the show, we’ll post a picture of the winner and their guest!

Let us know what event(s) you would like to see at Rupp Arena below!

Another idea: How about an Americana Fun Show with Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours, the Austin Lounge Lizards, Southern Culture on the Skids and some other fun acts. One night of hilarity!

    BMG, you really do rule.
To not go see them, one would be a fool!
But another show that would be too neat:
    Is a guy named “Loaf”…
    Whose first name is “Meat”!

    And if that’s not enough
    Whose tickets would sell?
    That heavy metal group
    On the “Highway to Hell”!

Perhaps more than any other show I would like to see Bon Jovi return to Rupp. His closest performances that I know of have been Nashville and Columbus, on two occasions. Been a fan of Blue Man Group since they first appeared on Leno several years ago in one of their first national spotlights. Thanks

YOU HAVE TO BRING ROD STEWART TO RUPP ARENA!!! I LOVE HIM AND HE NEEDS TO KNOW!!!! QUICK…BEFORE HE MARRIES ANOTHER SUPERMODEL!!

And I NEEEEEED a pair of Blue Man Group Tickets…why? Well, my younger sister and I already have tickets for the show. I tried to get my husband to take me to their show while we were in Vegas…but NOOOOOO….way toooooo expensive! Instead, he took me to see the tribute to the Rat Pack…good show….but not even close to the same superstar-type Vegas glamour show as the Blue Man Group…so here they are now..touring nearby and he wouldn’t take me to see them at Rupp either! Jeez! Ok, I digress….anyways…I NEED to win 2 tickets so I can treat Mr. Moneybags to the show and take him as MY guest. And if he and my brother-in-law won’t go…I’m SURE we can find a couple of friendly-type fellers to accompany us…hahaha!

How about some metal at Rupp? Not this pop metal crap, but some REAL metal. I mean like Hatebreed, Chimaira, Slayer, NothingFace or something of that nature. We really dont get enough stuff like that in Lex.

  156. Bill C. on April 18th, 2008 4:11 am

i would like to see more Cage Fighting… maybe even some UFC on tour or something. Kid Rock always puts on a great show too!

  157. Russ on April 18th, 2008 4:38 am

Lets see soo many choices most have already been stated above. Rupp seems to be missing out on most of the rock shows touring and has for some time now. I realize with WKQQ changing from the most powerful radio station in the state (back when it was 98.1and you could pick it up throughout most of the state) to 100.1 (where it can hardly be heard anymore more than 35 or 40 miles out of Lex.) the state of live rock music in Lex has been on a continuous downward spiral. Not saying there haven’t been great bands play since then but they are way to far in between shows. Granted when it costs $300+ for 3 or 4 tickets its not like many people can even afford to go to these big shows more than once every couple of years. Anyway it would be nice to see any of these in no specific order…

Metallica, STP, Pearl Jam, Van Halen, Tom Petty, Neil Young, NIN, Roger Waters, Eric Clapton, Rage Against the Machine, Black Crowes, REM, Jane’s Addiction, Alice In Chains, I am certain there are more but thats all I can think of at the moment that are on tour right now.
